St Gerard Majella
was born in Muro in the south of Italy in 1726. As a young
man he worked as a tailor before entering the Congregation
of the Most Holy Redeemer (The Redemptorists) He died after
only six years as a Redemptorist brother.
Although his life was short, Gerard has
always been a source of interest and inspiration. Many miracles
have been attributed to his prayers of intercession for others.
As a Brother, Gerard was in daily contact with many ordinary
people throughout his life. His sensitivity to the worries,
sorrows and struggles which families face was based on these
contacts. He is known as the “Mother’s Saint”,
his unlimited trust in God proving a constant source of encouragement
and reassurance.
Already countless numbers of mothers have
experienced St Gerard's powerful intercession.
