Thank you for your email,
and for sharing your concern about your relationship with
your boyfriend who is a Hindu. From what you write, I guess
your Catholic faith is important to you, and the fact you
have discussed it with your boyfriend seems to indicate that
his Hindu faith is important to him.
When your faith is important to you, naturally
you want to share it with your partner, as you share other
aspects of your life. When you are of different religions,
you are not able to share fully in this way. This can be a
cause of tension and conflict, and needs careful consideration.
However, when you are both open with each other, when communication
is good, and when you show tolerance and respect to each other,
it can be deeply enriching for you both. You have certainly
made a good start in this direction by talking to each other
and respecting each other.
Keep working at this, never taking for granted
what you believe, and what your partner believes. And pray
for each other, that God will bless you both and guide you
both. Fr Ed
