Loneliness is often referred
to as the modern plague. It is everywhere. Isn't it strange
that we live surrounded by other people, yet at times we can
feel so alone and so unloved?
You need to talk to someone sympathetic
and understanding. There could be a variety of reasons why
you are friendless, or feel friendless, and you need someone
to help you understand what is going on in your life. Pluck
up courage and speak to a priest or minister who seems friendly;
ask them if there's someone you can talk to who might be able
to help.
You might also find a pen-friend or two.
Again, ask around and see if anyone can put you in touch with
a pen friend organisation. Internet chat-rooms can be useful
ways of making contact - although as you know, there's no
substitute for a real friend who you can spend time with.
And don't forget you are never completely
alone. God is your companion and friend, and loves you more
than you can ever know. Talk to God, tell God how you feel.
Pray that your loneliness will come to an end. And know that
God holds you very close. Fr Ed. |
