The League of St Gerard prays for all parents
that they may receive spiritual support and inspiration as
they care for their family and work towards providing a sound
foundation for their children's future.
Members of the League ask the powerful help
of St Gerard for all parents and particularly for mothers,
that their homes may be centres of creative and nurturing
love which reflect the principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
St Gerard's prayers for expectant mothers
and those who long for a child have become legendary and miraculous
answers to prayer are familiar within the League.The League
was founded in Canada in 1936, In Britain, where it was established
in 1955, it has enrolled over 40,000 members.
Membership is
open to all who are willing to pray for and support parents
in their vital role in today's world. Members are asked simply
to make a commitment to pray the League prayer each day and
to try to live in the spirit of that prayer.
A special Mass is offered on the first Tuesday
of every month for the intentions of all members of the League.The
contemplative Redemptoristine Nuns will pray for individual
requests of League members.
The League is affiliated to the Archconfraternity
of St Gerard at Mater Domini, Rome, and shares in all its
privileges.
